
The following is a summary of WINDOWARE 2000 bar coded traveler labor collection and job tracking system. No special hardware or software is required other than a bar code reader and a printer that will support a true-type bar code font. The system uses code 39 bar codes.
Employees are assigned a badge with a bar code of their employee number.

The data collection screen is opened on a computer with a bar code reader attached. These computers should be conveniently located throughout the shop. The employee scans the badge with the bar code reader. The employee name appears on the data collection screen. The employee is prompted to scan a job number.


The employee scans the bar code reader across the job number bar coded on the traveler. The job information appears on the data collection screen.

The employee is next prompted to swipe the bar code of the operation on the traveler to be clocked into.


Scanning a valid operation updates the operation/workcenter fields on the data collection screen. Once a valid operation is scanned, the date and time are logged. The EMPLOYEE/JOB INQUIRY screen displays all jobs employees are currently clocked into.

When an employee completes an operation, the employee badge bar code is swiped and the employee is prompted to enter the number of pieces completed. The date and time is logged to calculate the time. The employee can clock into another job or scan the OUT bar code. Scanning the OUT bar code clocks the employee out of the system
